‘House of the Dragon’ season 3 BEGINS shoot; eyes 2026 release

After months of keeping fans waiting with that epic cliffhanger, House of the Dragon Season 3 has officially begun filming in the United Kingdom.
Although HBO has yet to confirm the news publicly, media reports and social media buzz indicate that production has officially begun in East England.
According to reports, principal photography for the highly-anticipated third season commenced earlier this month, and massive sets have already been constructed for the shoot, as confirmed in some behind-the-scenes images that leaked online in recent weeks. Filming is expected to continue through October 2025, after which the series will enter an extensive post-production phase.
    Bigger Battles in Season 3
Following the dramatic events of Season 2, viewers can expect Season 3 to be packed with some intensified and action-packed scenes. Ryan Condal, the series’ co-creator and showrunner, recently teased that the series will adapt “four major events” from George R.R. Martin’s Fire & Blood.
While specific plot details remain under wraps, fans can expect HOTD to continue with the bloody civil war aka the Dance of the Dragons, where rival factions of House Targaryen clash for the Iron Throne, besides a huge sea-battle called Battle Of The Gullet.
If the shoot goes according to plan, the series may just make its highly awaited return to TV screens in 2026.The show is expected to return with fan-favourite characters and actors returning to battle it out one more time. Returning stars include Emma D’Arcy as Rhaenyra Targaryen, Matt Smith as Daemon Targaryen, Olivia Cooke as Alicent Hightower. Fans of the series can also expect to see new faces, one in particular, is actor James Norton who will made his first appearance as Ormund Hightower.
