Karisma Kapoor, one of the biggest stars of the ’90s, is celebrated for her exceptional dance skills and acting talent. In a recent interview, renowned choreographer Ganesh Acharya reminisced about working with her on the hit song Goriya Chura Na alongside Govinda. He revealed that Karisma’s mother, Babita Kapoor, played a key role during the shoot. However, her insistence on a specific dance move led to an unfortunate injury.
Babita Kapoor’s Influence on the Choreography
In conversation with Pinkvilla, Ganesh revealed that Karisma sustained an injury and began bleeding while filming the song. He mentioned that Babita Kapoor played a significant role in ensuring the specific knee movement was included in the choreography.The choreographer further shared that Babita insisted Karisma perform a dance move that was initially choreographed only for Govinda. He recalled that when he explained the step involved a knee movement and Karisma was wearing shorts, Babita remained firm, urging him to teach her the step and have her perform it.
Karisma’s Painful Injury on Set
The demanding dance step led to a painful injury for Karisma, causing concern on set. Ganesh Acharya recalled that her knees were scraped during filming. While Govinda had knee pads under his trousers for protection, Karisma performed the move without any safeguards, leaving visible marks on her knees after the shoot.
Acharya also praised Karisma’s dedication, emphasizing that her hard work and resilience contributed to her success. He also acknowledged Babita Kapoor’s significant influence in shaping both Karisma and Kareena Kapoor’s careers.
