The much-awaited romantic comedy ‘Mere Husband Ki Biwi‘, starring Arjun Kapoor, Bhumi Pednekar, and Rakul Preet Singh in lead roles, is all set to hit cinemas on February 21, 2025. However, early box office trends suggest that the film will face stiff competition from other major releases, including Vicky Kaushal’s historical epic ‘Chhaava‘, Nicole Kidman’s erotic drama ‘Babygirl‘, and the Kollywood action flick ‘Dragon‘.
Despite its star-studded cast and a quirky storyline, Mere Husband Ki Biwi has received a lukewarm response at the box office, with advance bookings indicating a slow trend. As per industry estimates, the film has sold under 5,000 tickets in pre-sales, making the road ahead seem uncertain.
The makers are reportedly banking on strong word-of-mouth and last-minute on-spot bookings to boost collections over the weekend.Directed by Mudassar Aziz, the film is reportedly targeting the urban audience, considering that its story is set in Delhi-NCR and East Punjab. The film is expected to resonate with city-based audiences, which could boost its post-release growth.
However, the film’s box office prospects may just be impacted by the blockbuster run of Chhaava, which has already entered the Rs 200 crore club within a week of its release. The Vicky Kaushal-led period drama continues to draw huge crowds, posing a major challenge to new releases.
Adding to the competition, Hollywood’s critically acclaimed drama ‘Babygirl’, and the Tamil film ‘Dragon’, are also hitting theatres today, thus setting up an unlikely clash. While all three films cater to different audience segments, it remains to be see if they will impact each other’s collections. If positive word-of-mouth kicks in, the films could see an upward trend in collections in the days ahead.
