Ranbir Kapoor’s sister, Riddhima Kapoor Sahni, has finally broken her silence regarding the ongoing viral video featuring her daughter, Samara, and her mother, Neetu Kapoor, from the Hindu wedding festivities of Aadar Jain and Alekha Advani.
The viral clip was captured during the wedding of Riddhima’s cousin, actor Aadar Jain, held in Mumbai on Friday (February 21). In the video, Riddhima, her daughter Samara, and her mother, Neetu Kapoor, were seen posing for pictures. Samara’s serious expression and a hand gesture when grandmother Neetu joined Riddhima and her went viral on the internet, which people interpreted as a rift between the grandchild and grandmother. Netizens speculated that Samara had pushed her grandmother, Neetu Kapoor, in the video.
Riddhima has now dismissed these claims, explaining that the situation was misunderstood. She clarified that Samara was simply excited to pose for the photographers and had no intention of pushing her grandmother. She emphasised that the moment was blown out of proportion, as Samara was merely eager to strike her own pose and wasn’t upset. “The poor child was only trying to pose. She wasn’t upset. She was very excited, so much so that in the car she kept saying that, ‘Oh my God, I’m sure there are gonna be photographers and I’m gonna pose like this and that’.” she added.
She further revealed that her daughter, Samara, was confused by the online speculation, clarifying that she was simply trying to pose and had no intention of pushing her grandmother.
Riddhima reflected on a previous incident where her daughter faced criticism for her playful behaviour at an airport. “The last time I was being goofy, they had a problem, and now when I’m not doing anything, they again have a problem!” Samara had told her mother.
The Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives star emphasised that while Samara is learning to navigate public attention, the family actively discusses the pros and cons of such exposure. “Kids these days are more aware of all these things. There’s so much exposure. However, my mother and I chat with her (Samara) every single day about it — the pros, cons, good, bad, ugly — so that it doesn’t affect her,” Riddhima concluded.
