Akshaye Khanna is getting a lot of accolades at the moment for his portrayal of ‘Aurangzeb’ in ‘Chhaava’, co-starring Vicky Kaushal who played Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. While he’s known to stay away from the limelight and just is seen in movies once in a while, the actor has often said he enjoys being alone. He doesn’t seem to live the kind of life other actors do and looks unbothered about fame. However, did you know that he had once opened up on his feelings when he started loosing his hair and going bald very early on in his life.
He spoke about the emotional toll that this premature balding took on him as he said during a chat with Mid-day in 2020, “It started happening to me at such a young age. It was like a pianist losing his fingers; it almost felt like that in those days. I mean, once you come to terms with it, it starts bothering you less. But till then, it’s like, when you wake up in the morning, look at the newspaper and realise, ‘I can’t read. What’s written? I need glasses.’ It would affect you, right? Thinking, what’s happening since your eyes aren’t working.”
He added, “You might be a sportsman, a cricketer or a footballer, and realise that you might need knee surgery. So it’s heartbreaking, you might lose a year or two years of your career. So, as I said, it’s like a pianist losing his fingers. Because the way you look is very important as an actor; especially this part (he said pointing at his face). I mean, this part (the rest of the body), you can still cover it up or whatever. At 19-20, it’s devastating. It’s heartbreaking and it can mentally kill you.”
Before ‘Chhaava’, Akshaye was seen in ‘Drishyam 2’ along with Tabu and Ajay Devgn.
