Reports suggest that the date taken from his pacemaker suggests that the Oscar-winning actor Gene Hackman was likely dead for nine days before he and his wife were found dead at their New Mexico home.
Reportedly, as a part of the investigation, the sheriff’s deputies seized several items. According to a New York Times report, they also found records from MyQuest – a medical diagnostics service. The data titled 2025 monthly planner showed Hackman’s “last event” was recorded on February 17, Santa Fe County Sheriff Adan Mendoza said at a Friday news conference.
“According to the pathologist, I think that is a very good assumption, that that was his last day of life,” the sheriff said.
Other items that were confiscated by the police showed two green cellular devices were removed, along with three medicines.
The causes for the deaths of 95-year-old Hackman and his wife Betsy Arakawa remain unclear. Preliminary autopsies indicated no visible signs of trauma or foul play. Authorities also reported no immediate evidence of carbon monoxide or natural gas leaks.
Both individuals tested negative for carbon monoxide, according to statements made by Mendoza on Friday.
Their bodies were discovered in different rooms of their isolated home, with some pills found near Arakawa, as reported by the sheriff’s office. Investigators have not yet confirmed if Hackman and Arakawa passed away simultaneously, but according to Santa Fe County Sheriff Adan Mendoza, it is likely that they had been deceased for a considerable period before being found.
