‘Sanam Teri Kasam‘, starring Harshvardhan Rane and Mawra Hocane, initially flopped in 2016 but has seen a remarkable renewal in popularity with its re-release in February 2025. The film has garnered significant attention and love from audiences, filling theaters in several cities and achieving impressive box office numbers, surpassing its original lifetime earnings.
Directed by Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru, ‘Sanam Teri Kasam’ collected over Rs 40 crore. The romantic tragedy has surpassed Sohum Shah’s ‘Tumbbad’ to become the highest-grossing re-release film in India.
Pakistani actress Mawra Hocane recently shared her heartfelt reaction to the support she received from Amitabh Bachchan and Vidya Balan for her film. In an interview with Mid-Day, she expressed her gratitude, saying, “Mr. Bachchan is a legend and he saw my movie! It will always be a cherished feeling. Vidya-ji has my heart. She did women-oriented roles when no one was doing them.”
Amitabh Bachchan also extended his good wishes for the re-release of ‘Sanam Teri Kasam’ by sharing the film’s poster on Instagram and writing, “All good wishes for this re release.” Sharing Big B’s post on their Instagram Stories, Harshvardhan wrote, “Bachchan Saab. First God noticed, and now sir, you noticed”, and Mawra wrote, “It’s getting more and more unreal by the minute.”
She recalled the moment at her wedding reception when her husband, Ameer Gilani, informed her about Vidya Balan’s compliment. Mawra said, “It was my wedding reception and my husband told me that Vidya-ji has praised me. I was over the moon. They say, waqt se pehle aur naseeb se zyada kuch nahin milta. It has stood true for Sanam Teri Kasam.”
Vidya Balan recently watched ‘Sanam Teri Kasam’ in theaters during its re-release and expressed her appreciation for the film. She shared the poster and wrote, “Enjoyed watching this simple love story in the theatre! Congrats to Mawra Hocane, Harshvardhan Rane, Radhika Rao, and Vinay Sapru. Mawra aap kamaal ho.”
