Gauhati HC grants anticipatory bail to Ashish Chanchlani in 'India's Got Latent' case

The Gauhati High Court has granted anticipatory bail to YouTuber Ashish Chanchlani in a case related to his show India’s Got Latent. Earlier, on February 18, the court had given him interim bail.
His advocate, Joyraj Borah shared with PTI, “After going through the case diary, the high court granted anticipatory bail to the petitioner.”
Ashish Chanchlani’s legal team, comprising Joyraj Borah, Hiranya Kumar Nath, Apoorv Srivastava, and Avinash Lalwani, argued that he had fully cooperated with the investigation and complied with the Gauhati High Court’s previous directives.
The Gauhati High Court bench, led by Justice Mridul Kumar Kalita, granted anticipatory bail to Ashish Chanchlani by making his interim relief permanent. The FIR against him was filed on February 10 under multiple laws, including the Bhartiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS), the IT Act, the Cinematograph Act, and the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act.
Ashish Chanchlani appeared before the Guwahati Police on February 27, where he was interrogated for several hours regarding the India’s Got Latent controversy. On the same day, YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia (BeerBiceps) was also questioned by the police.
The case includes multiple individuals, such as comics Samay Raina, Jaspreet Singh, and Apoorva Makhija, as well as the owner of the venue where the show was filmed. Several FIRs have been registered across the country due to controversial remarks made in the show about parents and sex.
