When Amitabh Bachchan recalled Aishwarya Rai's fatal accident: 'Her back was lacerated...'

Aishwarya Rai became Aishwarya Rai Bachchan after marrying Abhishek Bachchan in 2007. She has worked in several films with Amitabh Bachchan. However, years before her wedding, while filming Khakee with him, she suffered a serious on-set accident.
During the filming of Khakee near Nashik, a stuntman lost control of a speeding car, which crashed into Aishwarya Rai’s chair. While most actors moved away in time, Aishwarya and Tusshar Kapoor couldn’t react quickly. She was badly injured and had to be rushed to the hospital.

The impact threw Aishwarya Rai into a cactus plant, causing serious injuries. Amitabh Bachchan arranged Anil Ambani’s private plane to transport her. Since Nashik lacked a night landing facility, he secured special permission from Delhi to land the plane at a military base.

When the media downplayed the accident, Amitabh Bachchan couldn’t ignore it. The veteran actor was deeply affected, struggling to sleep for two nights. Aishwarya suffered severe injuries, including deep cuts, a broken foot bone, and cactus thorns in her back, yet the incident was dismissed as minor.

Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan, a power couple in Bollywood, fell in love during Dhoom 2 and married on April 20, 2007. They welcomed their daughter, Aaradhya, in 2011. Aishwarya has consistently shown her devotion as a loving wife and caring daughter-in-law over the years.
Over the years, Aishwarya has become an integral part of the Bachchan family. Amitabh Bachchan has often praised her, once expressing in Starry Nights 2.Oh! that her arrival felt like one daughter leaving and another joining the family.
