Kim Sharma opened up about her early struggles in Bollywood, admitting that neither she nor her family had any knowledge of the film industry. She recalled signing Mohabbatein as just another day, unaware of its significance. Kim also shared how she faced challenges adapting to industry norms, dealing with judgment, networking pressures, and gender discrimination.
During a chat with Kunickaa Sadanand on YouTube channel, Kim shared that she and her family had no connection to the film industry and knew very little about it. They had watched only a few movies, and signing Mohabbatein didn’t feel like a big moment for her. Even after meeting stars like Shah Rukh Khan and Amitabh Bachchan, she didn’t fully grasp the significance of the opportunity.
The actress revealed that she struggled to adapt to the film industry’s judgmental nature. After her debut, she was confused by the expectations of networking, public relations, and social etiquette. As a teenager coming from a modeling background, she was unaware of these norms and felt out of place in the industry.
Kim further recalled feeling rebellious and unprepared for the industry’s strict norms. She would casually smoke on set and had a tattoo, which shocked her manager, who insisted that heroines couldn’t have tattoos. Coming from a liberal upbringing, she struggled with authority and felt she was experiencing gender discrimination for the first time.
