‘Sikandar’ director AR Murugadoss opens up on filming amidst Salman Khan’s death threats: Required high security and intense…

Salman Khan is gearing up for the release of his highly anticipated film, ‘Sikandar,’ which is set to hit cinemas on 30th March 2025. The actor recently took to Instagram to share an eye-catching poster of the film, captioning it, “See you in theaters worldwide on 30th March! #Sikandar #SajidNadiadwala’s #Sikandar Directed by @a.r.murugadoss.”
However, behind the grandeur of the film’s production, the shooting period was marked by intense security concerns due to multiple death threats targeting Salman. These threats, reportedly issued by the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, intensified following the death of a close friend of Salman’s and well-known politician Baba Siddique.

Discussing the challenges faced during filming, director AR Murugadoss opened up in a conversation with ETimes about how the production team managed in the face of such difficulties. He revealed, “Salman sir is completely different to work with. The scale of ‘Sikandar’ was massive—we often had scenes with 10,000 to 20,000 people on set. Managing such large crowds required high security and intense coordination.”

The threats added another layer of complexity to an already demanding schedule. Murugadoss explained, “Our schedule was demanding, and it became more hectic with the threat. Post that, the security was tightened, and the checking of all the extra artists on the sets would take 2-3 hours daily. Their entries and checkups took the major part of our day, and we often started the shoot late and ended late by the wee hours of the morning. Our biological cycle went on the toss. But once we adapted, it became a routine, and the set had a very positive energy.”

Salman Khan has been under heightened security for several months now, following multiple death threats. Despite these challenges, Salman Khan remained professional and committed to ensuring the film progressed as planned. Murugadoss praised his dedication, stating, “The story required a larger-than-life, fan-favorite superstar, and Salman sir fits the role perfectly. His persona and presence bring weight to the character and the narrative. Once you see the film, you’ll understand why he was the ideal choice.”
Alongside Salman Khan, ‘Sikandar’ boasts a talented ensemble cast including Rashmika Mandanna, Kajal Aggarwal, Sathyaraj, Sharman Joshi, Prateik Babbar, Anjini Dhawan, and Jatin Sarna, who play pivotal roles, each bringing depth to the narrative. Sathyaraj and Prateik Babbar portray the film’s antagonists, adding intensity to the storyline.
