Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan recently spoke candidly about his relationship with fellow actors Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan, admitting that they weren’t always fond of each other and had a strong sense of rivalry in their early years.
In an interview with Just Too Filmy on YouTube, Aamir was asked whether there was ever tension between the three. He immediately responded, “Of course there was… What are you even asking? Each of us wanted to outpace the other two. Isn’t that what you call rivalry? So, that was there.”
While the rivalry seemed like friendly competition, Aamir acknowledged that there were also conflicts. “I think many of them have been well reported in media as well,” he quipped, adding, “It’s not like I am saying something new here.” He further explained, “There have been disagreements. But these things happen between friends, right? Be it in any relationship, there will be disagreements too along with the friendship.”
No More Rivalry, Just Friendship
Aamir emphasized that the three superstars have moved past their competitive phase. “It’s been 35 years since we got together. We were born in the same year, 1965, and made our debuts also more or less around the same time. Now, that rivalry is no longer there. I don’t think Shah Rukh, Salman or I even look at it that way now. Having journeyed together for 35 years, there is a sense of warmth and friendship between us, which has become more pronounced now than ever. We are much more comfortable with each other now,” he shared.
Three Khans on Stage Together
Reflecting on their bond, Aamir recalled their recent appearance at Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant’s wedding festivities in Jamnagar, Gujarat. He shared how the three ended up performing together on stage.
“There, Salman and Shah Rukh had something planned for their entry. Then Mukesh (Ambani) called me saying, ‘They are doing something, it would be nice if you also joined.’ It was a last-minute request, saying everyone would be happy if the three of us were on stage together. I immediately said yes. So, we (the three Khans) sat down together for about half an hour and prepared that skit that you guys saw. But the comfort with which we were saying yes and no to each other during the preps made me realise that we were in a comfortable place now. We were able to exchange ideas in a free manner,” Aamir recalled.
He then revealed an exciting thought that crossed his mind during rehearsals: “Once the rehearsal was over, I told them: ‘Now, the three of us can do a film together.’ They also agreed. Having been together for so long, I think the audience would also love to see us together in a film.”
Will the Three Khans Ever Share the Screen?
While Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan have previously appeared together in films like Karan Arjun and Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Aamir Khan has only shared screen space with Salman in Andaz Apna Apna. However, fans are still waiting for a film featuring all three Khans together. With Aamir hinting at the possibility, could Bollywood’s biggest trio finally unite for a movie? Fans can only hope!
