Aamir Khan reveals he has begun work on his long-awaited 'Mahabharat' film project

For years, Aamir Khan has been passionate about adapting the epic Mahabharat into a film. Now, as he approaches his 60th birthday, he has revealed that work on this ambitious project has finally started.
On March 13, 2025, Aamir hosted a meet-and-greet with the paparazzi to celebrate his upcoming 60th birthday. During the event, he was questioned about his plans to create a film adaptation of Mahabharat. Aamir replied, “I have just started. Just starting, putting the team together for the writing and all that, just started.”
When asked about the timeline for his Mahabharat project, Khan indicated that the completion of the film within the next five years would depend on how the first year of production unfolds.
He was also questioned about his recent gathering with friends and fellow actors Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan. In response, he humorously revealed that during their meetup, they spent the evening “gossiping about the media.” On a more serious note, Aamir mentioned that it was a wonderful reunion after a long time, and they enjoyed each other’s company, discussing various topics without focusing on their upcoming birthdays.
Aamir Khan is looking forward to the release of ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’, the sequel to his 2007 film ‘Taare Zameen Par’, which was his directorial debut and received widespread acclaim. This new film will present a fresh narrative with new characters and is scheduled to premiere this year.
