Abhishek Bachchan opens up on nearly quitting acting, Amitabh Bachchan’s advice kept him going: ‘If my daughter comes up to me today...’

Megastar Amitabh Bachchan has always been Abhishek Bachchan’s strongest pillar of support, championing his son’s journey in Bollywood. While promoting his upcoming movie Be Happy, Abhishek opened up about the struggles he faced in his early career and how his father’s invaluable advice became a guiding force in his life.
In an interview with Nayandeep Rakshit, Abhishek revealed a time when he contemplated quitting acting altogether. “I have been in such situations. At the start of my career, I was going through a very rocky time with my films. No matter what I was trying, I wasn’t able to achieve whatever I wanted to achieve and match the standards that I had set for myself,” he shared, reflecting on his initial setbacks in Bollywood.
The Guru actor further disclosed that during his lowest phase, he turned to his legendary father for guidance. “I remember going to my father one night and saying that I have made a mistake and no matter what I am trying, it is not working. Maybe, this is the way of the world telling me that this is not for you,” he admitted. However, Amitabh Bachchan’s powerful words changed his perspective. “He was amazing. He said, ‘I am telling you as an actor and not your father, you have a long way to go, you are nowhere near the finished product but you are improving with every film. Just keep working and you will get there,’” Abhishek recalled.
Emphasizing the importance of resilience, Abhishek highlighted how failures shape success. “With time, you learn a lot and experience teaches you so much. If you look at it, we all are fighting a losing battle. At the end of the day, none of us is getting out of this gig alive. You will fail, you just have to fail forward. Failure is an integral step to success. Without failure, there’s never going to be success,” he noted, offering an inspiring take on perseverance in the film industry.

He also acknowledged the significance of unwavering family support. “It happens every day. It starts with your parents. They are protective about you, so that instinct may sometimes get them to be a bit negative, but they will always support and believe in you,” he explained. As a doting father himself, Abhishek recognizes the value of nurturing dreams. “If my daughter comes up to me today and I wouldn’t be sure about something she wants to do, but if I see conviction in her belief, then that gives me conviction to say that she is going to be able to do it because she is not going to give up.”
Before leaving the conversation that night, Amitabh left him with a lasting piece of wisdom. “He said that I did not bring you up to be a quitter, so keep fighting. That meant a lot,” Abhishek revealed, underlining how those words continue to drive him forward.

On the work front, Abhishek Bachchan is gearing up for the release of Be Happy, co-starring Nora Fatehi and Inayat Verma. Helmed by acclaimed director Remo D’Souza, the highly anticipated film will premiere on OTT from March 14.
