Apple is looking to shuffle the iPhone release schedule next year as it looks to release a record 6 iPhones in 2026, according to a report by The Information. Notably, Apple usually releases four new iPhones around September every year but things could be changed in order to accomodate the new iPhone Fold launch.
Reportedly, iPhone 18 Pro variants and iPhone 18 Air could be launched at the same time while the vanilla iPhone 18 variant could be bundled together with the iPhone 16e successor launch in Spring next year.
Apart form iPhone Fold, Apple is also preparing a new ‘Pro Model’ for last year which will use more expensive glass, according to a report by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. The new Pro variant is expected to be a 20th anniversary special model of some kind but more details on this are still awaited.
iPhone Fold: What we know so far
The Information report notes that the first ever foldable iPhone could come in a book style form factor instead of a clamshell like finish as was earlier reported. Meanwhile, the phone could come with a screen size of around 5.7 inches when closed and under 8 inches when the display is opened.
Moreover, supply chain analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has earlier predicted that the iPhone Fold couuld have a thickness between 4.5mm to 4.8mm, taking inspiration from the iPhone 17 Air to be launched this year. Meanwhile,
Apple is also said to have found a way to make the phone’s display crease-free, but it will likely come with a premium price tag of over $2,000. The phone is also said to ditch Touch ID in favour of Face ID.
As for optics, the phone is likely to come with a selfie camera on the front in the punch hole style and two rear cameras to the back.
