Sia, the ‘Cheap Thrills’ singer, files for divorce from a husband, Dan Bernard, whom she married two years ago. The court documents reveal that the Australian singer-songwriter’s reason for divorce allegedly is ‘irreconcilable differences.’
According to the People, the estranged duo welcomed their son, Somersault Wonder Bernard, 11 months ago. The documents state that the ‘Unstoppable’ singer is asking for legal and physical custody of the child while she has no objection to visitation rights of Bernard. The physical custody time limit will be decided by the parents. Additionally, Sia has asked the court to not grant rights to Bernard for any spousal support.
First linked in 2021, the couple got legally married in 2022 and had an intimate ceremony in May 2023 at Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana’s Villa Olivetta in Portofino, Italy.
Previously, in an interview with InStyle Magazine, Sia had revealed that she wanted to be a mom her whole life. Before hitching Bernard, the singer had been married to filmmaker, Erik Anders Lang with whom she had undergone in vitro fertilization treatments. Unfortunately, while they got embryos, the ex-duo got divorced.
Later, Sia became a mom of two teenagers, after she adopted them in 2019 who were 18 years old during the time and were about to age out of the foster care system.
In an interview with The Project, the Australian television program in 2021, the ‘Snowman’ singer revealed that it had been tough to teach them to trust, be honest, and live in the moment without using any substance. Previously, they have had a tragic lifestyle where the teenagers were conditioned to manipulate and lie their whole lives.
While the journey had been rough, they managed through the heartache and now trust the boys. “And I’m proud because they’ve come a very long way,” Sia expressed.
