Chhaava Box Office Collection Day 8: Historical drama beats URI to become Vicky Kaushal's highest earning film of all time

Vicky Kaushal’s latest historical drama Chhaava has made waves at the box office, surpassing Uri: The Surgical Strike to become the actor’s highest-grossing film to date. The film, which had a strong opening week, has now crossed the Rs 242.25 crore mark, according to early estimates.
Chhaava performed exceptionally well in its first week, amassing a total of Rs 219.25 crore. The film maintained momentum into its second Friday, earning an estimated Rs 23 crore, on par with its Monday collections. The historical epic saw an upward trend over its debut weekend, collecting Rs 31 crore on February 14, followed by Rs 37 crore on Saturday and Rs 48.5 crore on Sunday.
Although Monday saw a slight dip to Rs 24 crore, the film experienced a surge on Tuesday with earnings of Rs 25.25 crore. On Wednesday, which marked Shivaji Jayanti, the collections rose to Rs 32 crore. The week concluded with a slight decline on Thursday, bringing in Rs 21.5 crore.
With its total now standing at approximately Rs 242.25 crore, Chhaava has officially overtaken Uri: The Surgical Strike as Vicky Kaushal’s highest-grossing film. The war drama had previously held the record for the actor’s most successful box office performance.
Kaushal has received widespread acclaim for his portrayal of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. The film’s success has been further bolstered by tax-free status in several states, encouraging more audiences to watch the historical action drama on the big screen.
Adding to the film’s momentum, Prime Minister Narendra Modi acknowledged its cultural impact during a recent address at the Akhil Bharatiya Marathi Sahitya Sammelan. He remarked, “In dino to Chhaava ki dhoom machi hui hai (Chhaava is making waves throughout the country).” He also praised the film for introducing the valour of Sambhaji Maharaj to a wider audience, referencing Shivaji Sawant’s Marathi novel as an inspiration.
Directed by Laxman Utekar, Chhaava features an ensemble cast alongside Kaushal. Rashmika Mandanna portrays Maharani Yesubai, Akshaye Khanna plays Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb, Ashutosh Rana stars as Sarsenapati Hambirao Mohite, Divya Dutta appears as Soyarabai, and Diana Penty takes on the role of Zinat-un-Nissa Begum, Aurangzeb’s daughter.
With strong word-of-mouth and continued audience interest, Chhaava is expected to maintain its box office dominance in the coming weeks.
