Dibyendu Bhattacharya speaks out on shelved Anushka Sharma film: “‘Chakda Xpress’ deserves release”

Dibyendu Bhattacharya, known for his impactful performances in films like ‘Dev.D‘ and web series such as ‘Jamtara’, recently shared insights into his professional and personal life. He expressed his disappointment over the shelving of ‘Chakda Xpress‘, a project that was set to star Anushka Sharma.
In an interview with Bollywood Bubble, Dibyendu discussed the delayed release of ‘Chakda Xpress’, stating that he doesn’t know much about the situation but believes it is a “very well-made film.” He praised Anushka’s performance as one of her best. Although the film is complete, Bhattacharya remains uncertain about its release and has not received any updates from the makers. He can only hope for a resolution, as no clear information has been provided so far.
Bhattacharya expressed his desire to understand the reasons behind the delay. He emphasised that the film, with its brilliant subject and performances, certainly deserves to be released. He reiterated that ‘Chakda Xpress’ is a well-made film that should be shared with audiences. He believes it is essential for such a quality project to see the light of day.
‘Chakda Xpress’ is a biopic about Indian women’s cricketer Jhulan Goswami. The film was produced by her brother Karnesh Sharma and directed by Prosit Roy. Filming started in June 2022 and was completed by December 2022. Initially, it was supposed to be released directly on OTT.
