‘Dhoom Dhaam‘, the recent romantic comedy featuring Yami Gautam and Pratik Gandhi, has captivated audiences with its engaging plot and stellar performances. However, many might be surprised to learn that this film underwent significant transformations before reaching its current form. Originally titled ‘Raat Baaki‘, the project was set to feature Katrina Kaif and Fawad Khan in the lead roles.
‘Raat Baaki’ in 2016
Pinkvilla mentioned in its report that, director Aditya Dhar had envisioned making his directorial debut with ‘Raat Baaki’ in 2016, presenting a narrative similar to what ‘Dhoom Dhaam’ offers today. In a candid conversation with Bollywood Hungama, Aditya Dhar shed light on the journey of the film’s evolution. He revealed that ‘Raat Baaki’ was initially planned as a romantic comedy infused with action sequences. The project faced unforeseen challenges, leading to a reimagining of the storyline and its characters. Dhar stated, “But we tweaked it a little bit. We made it contemporary and a story of today’s times.”
Apart from this an intriguing tidbit about ‘Dhoom Dhaam’ is the involvement of Sima Taparia from ‘Indian Matchmaking’. Dhar shared that Taparia had filmed a scene for the movie, intended to depict her arranging the match between the characters played by Yami Gautam and Pratik Gandhi. Unfortunately, this scene was edited out in the final version.
