The controversy surrounding the mysterious death of Disha Salian, former manager of late Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput, has reemerged as her father, Satish Salian, has moved the Bombay High Court seeking a fresh investigation.
In his petition, filed on Wednesday, Satish has alleged that his daughter was ‘brutally assaulted and murdered’, and claimed that her death was followed by a politically motivated ‘cover-up’. He has demanded an FIR against Shiv Sena-UBT leader Aaditya Thackeray and a transfer of the case to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
News agency IANS shared visuals of police and other security personnel outside the Salian residence. The video shows some male and other female cops on the site, amid rising tensions.
In an interview to Republic, Sushant’s father KK Singh said, “I have repeatedly said, Sushant was not the kind of person who could commit suicide. Also, whatever I have heard, Disha Salian’s death was termed as an accident but she was thrown from the floor.”
The plea challenges the initial findings of the Mumbai Police, which ruled Disha’s death as an ‘accident’. At the time, reports stated that Salian reportedly fell from the 14th floor of a high-rise apartment in Malad, leading to an Accidental Death Report. However, her father has now alleged inconsistencies in the case, including a suspiciously clean crime scene and the absence of injuries consistent with a fall from such a height.
According to the petition, the Mumbai Police allegedly closed the case in a “hasty manner,” ignoring crucial forensic evidence, eyewitness accounts, and circumstantial proof. Advocate Nilesh Ojha, representing the Salian family, confirmed that the petition is now in the process of being formally registered with the court.
Her death on June 8, 2020 raised questions about a possible link to Sushant Singh Rajput’s death just days later on June 14, 2020.
CBI sources at the time, said in a report on TOI, that they had not registered any case or carried out any specific probe into Salian’s death. Sources, however, said as part of the probe into Rajput’s death they had conducted some inquiry as she was his talent manager, but did not arrive at any conclusion.
