‘Harry Potter’ and ‘Doctor Who’ fame Simon Fisher-Becker passes away at 63

Hollywood has lost yet another star, as Simon Fisher-Becker passed away at the age of 63. The British actor who created a mark for himself with movies like ‘Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone’ and ‘Doctor Who’ has left the mortal world. The news of his demise was confirmed by his manager, Kim Barry of Jaffrey Management, along with his husband, Tony.
In a statement to Metro, the late actor’s manager said, “Today I lost not only a client in Simon Fisher-Becker, but a close personal friend of 15 years standing.”
Remembering his legacy and painting a beautiful tribute for the actor who gave Hollywood wonderful acts, Barry added, “I shall never forget the phone call I made to him when he was offered the part of Dorium Maldovar in BBC’s Doctor Who.”
Barry said Simon was more than just an actor, he was “a writer, a raconteur, and a great public speaker.”
“My condolences go to his husband Tony, his brother, nieces and nephews, and his legion of fans,” he added.
On the other hand, Simon’s husband, Tony, took to his social media handle to express his grief and confirm the news of his beloved’s passing. “Hello everyone. This is Tony, Simon’s husband. I have some very sad news. At 2:50 this afternoon Simon passed away,” he wrote.
He added that he would keep the account open for some time but was uncertain if he would post again.
According to the New York Post, Fisher-Becker as the Fat Friar, the affable ghost of the Hufflepuff house, in ‘Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone,’ won hearts. The report also noted his notable role as Dorium Maldovar in Seasons 5 and 6 of ‘Doctor Who.’
In addition to his iconic performances in ‘Doctor Who’ and ‘Harry Potter,’ Fisher-Becker played diverse roles that will be inspiring generations. He appeared in famous British TV series like ‘Puppy Love,’ ‘One Foot in the Grave,’ ‘The Bill,’ ‘Love Soup,’ and ‘Afterlife.’ Not to forget his Academy Award-winning film ‘Les Misérables’ from 2012.
