Before Deepika Padukone became a leading star in Bollywood, her journey to fame took a significant turn with Himesh Reshammiya’s 2006 music video ‘Naam Hai Tera’ from his hit album ‘Aap Kaa Surroor’. Recently, Himesh opened up about his role in her early career and her impressive rise in the industry.
In a conversation with Pinkvilla, Himesh praised Deepika’s natural screen presence and undeniable talent, saying, “Humne toh aur bhi ladkiyon ko launch kiya hai, but vo sab Deepika nahi bani.” (We have launched many other girls, but no one could become Deepika.) He added, “She was a star from day one.” The ‘Naam Hai Tera’ video highlighted Deepika’s grace and captivating charm.
Himesh fondly recalled recognising her star quality early on, confident that she would carve a niche for herself in films. His instincts proved right when Deepika made a stellar Bollywood debut opposite Shah Rukh Khan in ‘Om Shanti Om’ in 2007.
On the work front, Himesh was last seen in ‘Badass Ravikumar’, directed by Keith Gomes. It is a spin-off of the 2014 film ‘The Xposé’ and the second instalment in ‘The Xposé Universe’, with Himesh Reshammiya reprising his role as Ravi Kumar. The film also featured Prabhu Deva, Kirti Kulhari, Simona J, Saurabh Sachdeva, Sanjay Mishra, and Johnny Lever in key roles.
Meanwhile, Deepika Padukone was last seen in ‘Singham Again’ alongside Ranveer Singh, Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgn, Kareena Kapoor Khan, and more. She is all set to make a comeback with the second part of ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ with Prabhas.
