‘India's Got Latent’ row: Samay Raina summoned for the THIRD time by the Maharashtra cyber cell

YouTuber Samay Raina and his show ‘India’s Got Latent’ are still under fire. The controversy surrounding the use of provocative language at the show hasn’t rested yet. According to the latest update, Samay Raina has received a fresh notice from the Maharashtra Cyber Cell. He has been summoned to appear before the cyber cell on March 24 according to ANI.
Earlier, he was asked to appear on March 19, but he failed to do so. Thus, this is the third time the authorities have issued the summons.
For the unversed, the controversy was sparked when Ranveer Allahbadia, also known as BeerBiceps, during his appearance in one of the episodes of India’s Got Latent, asked an inappropriate “would you rather” question. There were other offensive and provocative remarks as well that included sexual innuendo, but it was the ‘would you rather’ question that intensified the rage of the audience. The matter got so escalated that multiple complaints were filed not just against Ranveer Allahbadia and Samay, but also against Ashish Chanchlani, Jaspreet Singh, and Apoorva Makhija. Prominent figures and politicians spoke on the matter and expressed their disappointment.
Later, Ranveer issued an apology on social media via a video statement. He confessed it was a lack of judgment on his part, and since comedy is not his thing, things got out of hand. Samay also deleted all episodes of ‘India’s Got Latent’ from YouTube. Explaining this decision, he wrote on social media, “Everything that is happening has been too much for me to handle. I have removed all India’s Got Latent videos from my channel. My only objective was to make people laugh and have a good time. I will fully cooperate with all agencies to ensure their inquiries are concluded fairly. Thank you.”
