Akshay Kumar and Paresh Rawal have been seen sharing the screen together in many films such as ‘Hera Pheri’, ‘Phir Hera Pheri‘, ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa‘, ‘Garam Masala’, and ‘Bhaagam Bhaag’. During an interview, Paresh Rawal reflected on their enduring friendship and addressed the scrutiny surrounding Akshay’s career choices.
In an interview with Siddharth Kannan, Paresh dismissed the criticism of Akshay’s work choices, stating that it is nobody’s business.
When asked about the secret to their lasting camaraderie, Paresh highlighted the absence of rivalry between them. He shared that there is no insecurity between them and that he fully understands he cannot do what Akshay does — “Be it the action or being a really good-looking guy,” he quipped.
Paresh praised Akshay’s dedication and honesty, highlighting his straightforward nature, strong integrity, and commitment as a family man. He emphasised that Akshay’s genuine personality makes it enjoyable to interact and spend time with him. He described working with him as simply fun.
As a friend, he did not hold back when addressing the ongoing debate about Akshay’s filmography. Critics have often questioned whether the actor’s choice to star in multiple films annually has impacted the quality of his work. Paresh was quick to defend Akshay: “Honestly, what is your problem if he does so many films? People go to him to make the films, right? As a producer, I would sign an actor only if I can account for the money I am investing,” he said.
Paresh further elaborated on how Akshay’s work ethic should be celebrated rather than criticised. “He isn’t smuggling, bootlegging, selling drugs, or gambling. He is just working as much as he possibly can,” he mentioned. The actor further clarified that Akshay’s movies are a source of employment for thousands of people.
