Saba Azad reacts to whether social media followers help in getting films: 'I myself get...'

Saba Azad’s latest crime thriller ‘Crime Beat‘, alongside Saqib Saleem, is receiving decent reviews from critics and audiences alike. The actress recently opened up about her complex relationship with social media. Known for being particular about her career choices, she shed light on how social media presence influences casting decisions in today’s entertainment industry.
In an interview with Money Control, Saba candidly shared that she has a ‘love-hate’ relationship with social media, admitting that she struggles to maintain consistency online. She elaborated on her unpredictable posting habits, mentioning that she might be active for a few days and then disappear for months without any updates.

Saba acknowledged the advantages of social media, especially its role in providing immediate access to real news. She highlighted how technology has made it possible to stay informed about global events right from the palm of one’s hand—something unimaginable in the past.
However, the Crime Beat actress was quick to highlight the double-edged nature of social media. She expressed concern over the growing trend of casting actors based on their follower count rather than their acting skills or passion for the craft. “People are also being cast as actors based on the number of followers they have, even if they’re not actors or have had no prior interest in acting. Now people are turning to social media, thinking, ‘It’s cool, let’s cast this person,’ or they are getting work solely through social media. I myself get brand work through social media. So, there are pros and cons,” she revealed.
Saba further stressed the importance of staying grounded and recognising that real life exists beyond curated online personas.

‘Crime Beat’, directed by Sudhir Mishra and Sanjeev Kaul, features Saqib Saleem, Ranvir Shorey, Sai Tamhankar, Danish Hussain, Rahul Bhat, Rajesh Tailang, Addinath Kothare, and Saba Azad. It premiered yesterday (February 21) directly on OTT.
