The duo, who have been close for many years, have not seen together since last July 2023. In November Selena further fueled rumors of their fallout by unfollowing Franklin on Instagram. Although the reason behind these besties cutting their ties was unclear, reports suggest that Franklin’s strong support for Donald Trump may have played a role.
Selena on the other hand, has previously spoken against the current US president’s policies. On February 19, Daily Mail published screenshots of Franklin’s social media post, where she called out “phony celebrities” for advocating human rights and feminism without even taking real action. She further added “You guys are so full of s*. Performative activism at its finest,” Franklin wrote. Franklin further claimed that she chooses to reveal the truth, which she will do with complete sincerity and respect for the 10-year friendship she experienced- seemingly referencing Selena Gomez. Franklin also appeared to take a dig at supermodel Gigi Hadid, who is half-Palestinian, for her comment regarding the Israel conflict. She called Hadid an “idiot with a pretty face,” sparking further controversy.
Although the Emilia Pérez actress has not responded to Franklin’s remarks, sources claim that she is unbothered by the situation. A source told a British Tabloid that Franklin’s actions appeared to be nothing more than an attempt to gain attention.
Meanwhile, Gomez remains focused on her personal and professional milestones. Over the past few months, she has been actively pursuing her career and personal happiness.
