Songs have always played such a huge role in Hindi cinema and have largely contributed to an actor in order to make him a star here. In a recent interview, well-known lyricist Sameer Anjaan has further revealed the importance of songs. He recalled instances of Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan telling him to write good songs for them. The lyricist also said that song-writers, composers, singers also have a huge role to play in an actor’s stardom.
Sameer said during a chat with Lallantop, “Salman is a superstar today but we started our careers together. I remember Shah Rukh Khan would sit in so many sittings of Deewana. They always used to tell me, ‘Sir you give all the hit tracks to Rishi bhaiya (Rishi Kapoor)… give us at least one superhit song.’ Then I wrote Shah Rukh’s songs ‘Koi Na Koi Chahiye’ and ‘Aisi Deewangi’.”
He added, “Yeh superstar jo bane hai na usmein humara bhi bahut lahu baha hai (A lot of our blood has also been shed in the making these superstars). Many of my superhit songs were performed by Salman and Shah Rukh. So, I have had very friendly relations with both the actors.”
Sameer revealed that his close bond with Salman is largely because of his father, legendary writer Salim Khan. He said, “I have a special bond with Salman because I was also good friends with his father Salim Khan. I was a regular at Salman’s house and would meet his family often. We were like family. He was never arrogant with me. Even Salman’s latest film Sikandar’s track is being talked about. So I never had a problem with the two.”
