Shah Rukh Khan’s bald look from Jawan was accidental: Preetisheel Singh D’souza – Exclusive

After the debacle of Zero in 2018, Shah Rukh Khan took a sabbatical from work, only to return in 2023 with back-to-back superhits—Pathaan, Jawan, and Dunki. With Jawan, he not only delivered the then-biggest hit of Hindi cinema but also the sixth-biggest hit in Indian cinema.

For these films, Shah Rukh Khan completely transformed himself, appearing on the big screen in a much leaner and sharper frame. One of his most talked-about looks was the bald look from Jawan, where he played the dual roles of Azaad and Vikram Rathore.
Speaking about the bald look in the film, makeup and prosthetic artist Preetisheel Singh D’Souza, who designed the look, revealed that it came about by accident. She said, “The first time we did the look test with his salt-and-pepper beard and the full bald look, he looked like a rock star. While we were trying to create different looks for the film, I had applied a bald cap on him, and we were trying out different wigs. Once we took off the wig, he still had the beard on, and that’s when the discussion started—‘Doesn’t this actually look good on you?’ His head shape and overall appearance looked great, and so, it was a spontaneous decision—we decided to use it in the film.”

Preetisheel also recently worked with King Khan on a cola advertisement and revealed that he looks completely ripped even at the age of 60.
The superstar is currently gearing up for his next film, which will go on floors soon. Titled King, the film will be directed by Siddharth Anand and will mark SRK’s first venture with his daughter, Suhana Khan. Abhay Verma, fresh off the success of Munjya, has also been roped into the film. Reportedly, Abhishek Bachchan will play the negative lead for the first time in his career.
