Comedian Samay Raina and YouTuber Ranveer Allahabadia have landed in controversy after their contentious “sex with parents” remark on the show India’s Got Latent. The incident has drawn criticism from both political and entertainment circles, with veteran actor Shekhar Suman being the latest celebrity to condemn the show’s content.
Shekhar strongly opposed the nature of the remark, going as far as suggesting that those responsible should be exiled from the country. Expressing his outrage, he stated, “Iss tarah ka zamaana jahan maa-baap ko leke iss tarah ki gandi baatein ki jaa rahi hain, inn logon ko toh desh nikala de dena chahiye. Inko toh desh mein wapis nahi rehna chahiye. Aise log jo iss tarah ki badtameeze kar rahe hain roast ke naam pe, aur YouTube mein ye freedom of speech ke naam pe ki hamein bolne ki azaadi hain” (In times like these, where such obscene remarks are being made about parents, these individuals should be exiled from the country. They should not be allowed to return. People who indulge in such disrespectful behavior in the name of roast comedy and misuse freedom of speech on platforms like YouTube should not be given such liberties).
The Heeramandi actor further told Instant Bollywood, “Bolne ki azaadi ka ye thodi matlab hain ki aap usey gaaliyon se bhar de ya aisi gandagi bhar de jisko sunn ke poora desh bimaar ho jaye. Sarkar ke taraf se main darkhast karunga ki aise logon ka show hamesha ke liye band kar dena chahiye aur inhe kahin door, Rangoon bhej dena chahiye” (Freedom of speech doesn’t mean you can fill it with abuses or filth that makes the entire nation feel sick. I urge the government to permanently ban such people’s shows and send them far away, perhaps to Rangoon).
The controversy erupted following an episode of India’s Got Latent in January 2025, where Ranveer Allahabadia, who runs the popular YouTube channel BeerBiceps, asked an explicit question to a contestant which sparked widespread outrage, with critics calling it vulgar and deeply offensive.
Following public backlash and intervention from the Information & Broadcasting Ministry and the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), YouTube took down the contentious video. In response to the outrage, all episodes of India’s Got Latent were removed from Samay Raina’s YouTube channel.
