Sunny Deol wants to star in films like 'Animal': 'Directors need the guts to cast me'

Veteran actor Sunny Deol recently expressed his desire to take on intense and complex roles like those seen in Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Animal. At the trailer launch of his upcoming film ‘Jaat’ in Mumbai, the actor shared his eagerness to play unconventional characters, but he believes filmmakers hesitate to cast him in such roles.
When asked if he would consider a role similar to the one his brother Bobby Deol portrayed in Animal, Sunny responded with enthusiasm, stating that he is ready for any challenging role as long as the makers are willing to take a risk.
‘Directors Need the Guts to Cast Me’
Sunny Deol emphasized that he does not view such roles as negative but rather as layered characters. He explained that the real challenge lies in whether directors and producers are bold enough to envision him in such a space. “I’d love to play that role as an actor. I won’t call it negative, I will call it a character, and definitely, I would love to do that. But then, the director and the producer need to have the guts to cast me in something like that,” he remarked during the press event.
The actor suggested that the industry often assumes audiences won’t accept him in unconventional roles, limiting the variety of projects offered to him.
    Following in the Family’s Footsteps
Reflecting on the evolving careers of his brother Bobby Deol and father Dharmendra, Sunny Deol noted that his family has always been patient for the right projects. He acknowledged that success in the industry comes with perseverance and a willingness to wait for the right opportunities.
He further explained that their career philosophy is rooted in dedication and persistence, encouraging others to keep pushing forward despite challenges.
‘Jaat’ Set for April 2025 Release
