Taha Shah on struggles after debut with Shraddha Kapoor: ‘I was broken, but I kept going’

‘Heeramandi‘ star Taha Shah, who won hearts as the charming Tajdar in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s epic series, recently opened up about his long and challenging journey in Bollywood. He made his film debut alongside Shraddha Kapoor in the 2011 movie ‘Luv Ka The End.’ However, the film’s box office failure left his career struggling to gain momentum. In a candid conversation with News18 Showsha, Taha reflected on his journey, admitting that despite his early Bollywood break, he faced years of uncertainty. “Sab log toot te hain, main bhi toota hoon,” he shared, acknowledging the frustration and vulnerability he experienced. He explained that such struggles are unavoidable, but the real decision lies in whether to give up or push forward.
Taha revealed that during the tough times, he constantly reminded himself that as long as he was alive, he had a chance to succeed. While he admitted that he was yet to experience a major breakthrough, he believed that every challenge had helped him identify his weaknesses. “Everything has taught me that I have weaknesses, and for that, I need to invest time, energy, and focus to convert them into strengths,” he added.
The actor also spoke about his viral Mutton Song from ‘Luv Ka The End,’ where he danced in a woman’s attire. The song gained renewed attention after the release of ‘Heeramandi,’ sparking nostalgia among fans. When asked how he built confidence for such a performance in his debut film, Taha recalled taking inspiration from Bollywood legends like Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, and Aamir Khan, who have also dressed as women for iconic songs.
He shared a behind-the-scenes anecdote from the shoot, revealing that initially, he wore a ghagra choli with makeup but felt something was missing. It was only after the team provided him with a wig that he fully embraced the role. “The moment I put on the wig, everything fell into place,” he said.
Despite the hurdles, Taha remains hopeful and grateful for the opportunities he has received.
