Vicky Kaushal’s historical epic Chhaava continues its strong box office run, with its Telugu version showing a notable jump in collections. The film, which was released in Telugu on March 7 due to audience demand, saw a 20% growth on its second day.
On its opening day, the Telugu version of Chhaava earned Rs 2.5 crore. The positive word of mouth and increasing interest among South Indian audiences resulted in a stronger performance on March 8, as the film collected Rs 3 crore, taking its two-day Telugu total to Rs 5.5 crore.
Despite being a primarily Hindi-language film, Chhaava’s Telugu release was fueled by the audience’s demand, as the period drama resonates well with history enthusiasts across India. With its grand visuals, intense storytelling, and Vicky Kaushal’s powerful performance as Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, the film has struck a chord with audiences beyond its core Hindi-speaking market.
The overall box office collections of Chhaava now stand at Rs 508.8 crore in 23 days. While the Telugu version has contributed a modest Rs 5.5 crore to the total, the rising trend in its performance suggests that it may continue to add more to the final tally.Chhaava has also become the 7th biggest hit of Hindi Cinema beating Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal which had collected Rs 502.98 crore from Hindi version.
Given the current trajectory, Chhaava could see a steady run in the Telugu market over the next few days. If this momentum continues, the film might attract more viewers in the South, further cementing its place among the biggest blockbusters of recent times.
Chhaava directed by Laxman Utekar also featured excellent performances by Akshaye Khanna as Aurangzeb, Rashmika Mandanna as Yesubai and Viineet Kumar Singh as Kavi Kalash. Post Chhaava, Vicky will be seen sharing screen space with Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love & War which is slated to release next year.
