The Times of India Sports Awards (TOISA) 2024 took place in Lucknow on February 22, honoring top athletes and coaches for their achievements. The event celebrated excellence in various sports, recognizing individuals and organizations who made a significant impact over the past year.
Aparshakti Khurrana, who hosted the event, invited wrestler Geeta Phogat on stage to present an award. As she walked up, he fondly reminisced about his Dangal days, saying, “If it weren’t for you, my career would have been nothing. Nobody would have given me work. We had a lovely time on the sets of Dangal, spending quality time with your entire family.”
In a throwback interview, Aparshakti said that the whole thing has been very overwhelming for him. According to him, “You need to be blessed to be part of such a project. Such projects happen only once in 10 years in Bollywood. It can’t get better than this.”
While industry peers and friends showered him with praise, Aparshakti eagerly awaited his brother Ayushmann’s reaction. Known for being reserved in his compliments, Ayushmann had finally expressed genuine admiration for his performance. Having been inspired by his brother since childhood, Aparshakti cherished this acknowledgment as truly special.
Dangal is a biopic on Indian wrestling sisters Geeta Phogat and Babita Phogat. It starred Aamir Khan, Sanya Malhotra and Fatima Sana Shaikh in lead roles. The film had received stupendous response at the box office.
