Paytm founder Vijay Shekhar Sharma shared his excitement for the upcoming Tesla Cybercab on social media, after United States President Donald Trump said Elon Musk’s “car without steering wheel comes out next year”.

In the post on social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter), Sharma posted a video clip of Donald Trump speaking to reporters on the White House driveway, where he endorsed and reportedly bought a Tesla Model S sedan in a show of support for billionaire friend Elon Musk.

What Did Donald Trump Say? Is Cybercab Launch Confirmed?

Donald Trump during his bid to endorse Elon Musk’s auto business Tesla, by buying a Model S for White House staff use, also announced the company’s likely launch of a “car without steering wheels” which is “coming next year”.

He was referring to the Cybercab, which Elon Musk confirmed would start production in Texas from 2026.

Leading into the news about the Cybercab, Donald Trump said, “…by the way, he (Elon Musk) makes one car — this one I don’t understand, this one I don’t want, but that’s okay — without a steering wheel that comes out next year, explain that please…”

To which Elon Musk confirmed, “The Cybercab starts production in Texas next year (2026), and its a self-driving — we are so confident in its self-driving that it lets you not have a steering wheel, it will not have pedals. It will self-drive or not drive at all, but it will self-drive.”

And Donald Trump again joked: “And I’m gonna pass on that particular car…” drawing laughter from Elon Musk.

    About Tesla Cybercab

Earlier in October 2024, Elon Musk had unveiled Tesla’s long-awaited robot taxi, dubbed “Cybercab”, at an event at Warner Bros. Studios near Los Angeles. The world’s richest person said that production for Cybercab will begin in 2026 and that the upcoming robot taxi will be priced at under $30,000.

The electric taxi shown by Elon Musk has a capacity of only two people and has no pedals or steering, making it a fully autonomous vehicle. The design of the Robotaxi looks like something out of a science fiction novel, with the two doors opening upwards in a butterfly-like motion.

Elon Musk noted that autonomous vehicles could be 10 to 20 times safer than human-driven vehicles, while also being significantly cheaper. He estimated that the autonomous car would cost about $0.20 per mile to operate, compared to $1 per mile for city buses.
