Amitabh Bachchan faced a tough phase while working on Agneepath under Mukul Anand’s direction. Though it initially failed at the box office, the film later gained a cult following. Vikram Bhatt, an associate director on the film, recently shared memories of its making and recalled Bachchan jokingly “firing” him at a trial show.
In a chat with Radio Nasha, Vikram Bhatt shared an incident from Agneepath. During a fight scene, Amitabh Bachchan’s character had to keep punching a man until others stopped him. With three loud cameras rolling, Amitabh got so immersed in the scene that he accidentally used abusive language, but Mukul Anand still approved the shot, leaving others surprised.
Bhatt described Amitabh Bachchan as a well-mannered person who accidentally used abusive language while immersed in a scene. When Vikram informed Mukul Anand, he assured him it could be dubbed later. Before the film’s trial, Amitabh reminded Vikram to remove the part as his family would be watching. However, due to workload, Vikram forgot. When the scene played, Amitabh jokingly shouted, “Vicky, you are fired.” Vikram apologized, and Amitabh reassured him it was fine.
Years later, when Vikram Bhatt worked with Amitabh Bachchan in Aetbaar (2004), he realized how effortless it was to direct him. He compared it to sitting in an automatic car, saying Amitabh was always prepared—knowing his lines, hitting his marks, and delivering a flawless performance.
