Virat Kohli reveals why he didn’t post about India’s Champions Trophy win, ‘It is not going to give…’

Virat Kohli recently opened up about his evolving relationship with social media. He revealed that he was consciously stepping back from integrating it into his personal and professional life. Royal Challengers Bengaluru shared a clip from his discussion on RCB Bold Diaries.

In the candid reflection, Kohli says that many of his current social media engagements are due to past commitments. But, moving forward, he deliberately tries to disconnect his private handle from his future work.

He explains that posting branded content often gives the impression that nothing else is happening in his life, which can become unnecessarily complicated. Kohli emphasises that sharing moments like India’s Champions Trophy victory online wouldn’t amplify his happiness.

“Posting about us winning the Champions Trophy…it’s not going to increase the happiness in my heart. Like, they all know we won the trophy, so me posting about it is not going to give us two trophies. It’s the reality. It stays the same,” King Kohli says during the conversation.

I’m at a very different place

Virat Kohli further stresses the importance of being mentally focused and present, especially as he progresses into a different phase of his life and career.

“When I go out to play, I’m literally by myself… It’s that precise for me. Even the partner who’s playing with me, he’s standing on the other [end]. Like, it’s only me involved in that moment at one point of time,” he says.

“I have nothing to do with even the guy who’s standing next to me in that moment. It’s that precise for me. I want to be able to have all my energy in place to be able to be focused. It takes much more effort as people who have played the game for a long period of time understand, you can’t do so many things in your mid to late 30s that you can in your mid-20s,” Kohli goes on to say.

“I’m at a very different place in my life as well. For me, it’s a natural progression. I’m sure all these young guys will hopefully get to that place,” he concludes.
