Rumours have been doing the rounds that Govinda and his wife, Sunita Ahuja, are heading for a divorce after 37 years of marriage. Reports indicate that Sunita sent a separation notice months ago, but there has been no further action. The couple has been living separately, with differing lifestyles contributing to their rift. While Govinda has said that he is currently busy with film projects, Sunita has not made any comment on the matter.
As rumours about their marriage swirl, an old statement from Sunita Ahuja regarding extramarital affairs has gained new attention. Sunita, known for her straightforward nature, has never hesitated to share her thoughts on Govinda’s career, his on-screen romances, or even rumours about his personal life. Her past comments have now become part of the ongoing speculation about their relationship.
In an interview with Hautterfly, Sunita shared her unfiltered thoughts on extramarital affairs. “Haath jod ke public mein bolti hoon, ladkio ko aur biwio ko—zindagi mein apne boyfriend aur husband ko yeh mat bolna, ‘Mera boyfriend yaa mera kuch karta nahi.’ Karega na toh itni buri tarah, sorry for my language, itna buri tarah hugta hai, itni buri jagah hugega na, nikalte-nikalte 2 saal lag jaayenge, lekin vo saali nikalegi nahi. Ap life se nikal jaoge, lekin nikalti nahi hai vo item ( With folded hands, I say this to all the girls and wives out there—never tell your boyfriend or husband, ‘He doesn’t do anything for me.’ Because if he does, it will be in the worst possible way. Sorry for my language, but he will mess up so badly that it will take two years just to fix things, yet the problem itself won’t go away. Reacting to the ongoing divorce rumours, Govinda told ETimes, “These are only business talks going… I am in the process of starting my films.” However, his manager, Shashi Sinha, acknowledged that there are issues between the couple due to comments from family members, and they are working to resolve them. He told ETimes, “There have been issues between them due to certain statements made by some family members. There is nothing more to it, and Govinda is in the process of starting a film. We are trying to resolve it.”
Last month, Sunita Ahuja disclosed that she and Govinda have been living separately. She shares a flat with their children, while Govinda resides in a bungalow opposite their apartment. Sunita acknowledged that her sense of security in the marriage has rusted over time.
