Veteran actor Deb Mukherjee, father of filmmaker Ayan Mukerji, passed away at 9:30 am on 14 March. He had been unwell for some time and was admitted to the hospital. His funeral was scheduled for the evening at Pawan Hans Crematorium in Mumbai. Many Bollywood celebrities and family members have gathered at the crematorium to pay their last respects.
Actress Alia Bhatt was seen arriving to attend the funeral of Deb Mukherjee. However, her husband, Ranbir Kapoor was not seen with her. Alia and Kapoor had been in Alibaug for an extended weekend to celebrate Alia’s 32nd birthday on Thursday. After meeting the media in Mumbai, the couple had reportedly left for Alibaug from the Gateway of India. Upon hearing about Deb Mukherjee’s passing, Alia returned to Mumbai to attend the funeral.
Several other well-known personalities from the film industry were present at the crematorium. Filmmaker Karan Johar, actor Anil Kapoor, and Alia’s sister, Shaheen Bhatt, were also spotted at the crematorium.
Veteran filmmaker and screenwriter Salim Khan, father of superstar Salman Khan, was also among those who came to pay their respects. Music composer Pritam, who has worked on numerous Bollywood films, was also seen at the funeral.
Actor Hrithik Roshan looked visibly injured, and despite his condition, he made sure to attend the last rites, showing his respect and offering support to the bereaved family.
Earlier in the day, veteran actress Jaya Bachchan, along with her daughter Shweta Bachchan, visited the Mukerji residence. Jaya looked deeply saddened and was seen embracing actress Kajol, sharing a moment of grief. The Mukerji family has long been a part of the Bollywood industry, and many celebrities share close personal and professional bonds with them.
