The first round of matches in the Indian Premier League 2025 concluded on Tuesday after Gujarat Titans encountered Punjab Kings in a thrilling game. Having played their first matches of the season, teams are beginning to establish their positions in the points table. While Sunrisers Hyderabad and Royal Challengers Bangalore have surged ahead with strong performances, teams at the bottom of the table will aim to improve their form in the next set of matches. Here’s how the standings look after the initial round of the tournament.
IPL 2025 POINTS TABLE
Team Sunrisers Hyderabad is leading the points table with their outstanding victory against the Rajasthan Royals with a Net Run Rate of 2.200. They are followed by Rajat Patidar-led Royal Challengers Bangalore with an NRR of 2.137, after defeating Kolkata Knight Riders in the opening game of the season.
Punjab Kings started their IPL 2025 journey on a high note after clinching a win on Tuesday against Gujarat Titans, they rank third on the table. Their NRR is 0.550. On the fourth position of the points table is Chennai Super Kings with 0.493 NRR after they won their first game of the season against Mumbai Indians. They are followed by Delhi Capitals who snatched the victory from the hands of Lucknow Super Giants with the help of Ashutosh Sharma’s explosive innings. They have an NRR of 0.371.
While LSG, MI, and GT stand at the sixth, seventh, and eighth positions, respectively. KKR and RR at the ninth and tenth positions. While the bottom five teams will want to bounce back and win the upcoming games to add points on the board, the top five teams with 2 points each, will be geared up to continue their winning spree.

When it comes to the rankings of players in the list to win the Orange Cap, Ishan Kishan continues to hold the top position after his knock of 106 runs off 47 balls. He is followed by Punjab Kings’ skipper Shreyas Iyer with 97 runs, in his game against Gujarat Titans on Monday.

He is followed by his fellow teammate Khaleel Ahmed with three wickets and an economy of 7.25. Krunal Pandya has also scalped three wickets so far and has an economy of 7.25.
