The much-anticipated sequel to Lucifer, L2E: Empuraan, starring Mohanlal and directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran, is making a massive impact at the Indian box office on its opening day. With impressive pre-sales figures and high occupancy rates, the film is on track to cross over Rs15 crore mark in India on Day 1.
According to the latest data by Track BO, L2E: Empuraan has already recorded a total India gross of Rs 14.87 crore, including blocked seats, with an overall occupancy of 52.62%. The film has sold an impressive 7,95,025 tickets across 5,334 shows nationwide. Even without considering blocked seats, the estimated advance gross stands at Rs 14.15 crore, with real occupancy at 49.43% and actual ticket sales reaching 7,46,850.
A key factor contributing to these massive numbers is the extraordinary response from audiences, particularly in Kerala. The film is witnessing fast-filling and sold-out shows across the country, with 2,559 screenings nearing full capacity and 501 shows already houseful. Given this momentum, the film is expected to have a world opening of Rs 50 crore. In North America itself which is considered a home ground for Hindi and Telugu films, L2E is making its presence felt and has already crossed Rs 3 crore mark just for its premiere shows and in the United Arab Emirates circuit the film has already minted Rs 85 lakhs for its premiere and day 1 shows.
The anticipation surrounding the film is unparalleled, thanks to Mohanlal’s commanding screen presence and Prithviraj’s gripping direction. Following the monumental success of Lucifer, fans have been eagerly waiting to see how the story unfolds in Empuraan. The film’s powerful narrative, combined with a stellar cast and high production values, has ensured a phenomenal opening.
With strong word-of-mouth and packed theatres, L2E: Empuraan is poised for an extraordinary weekend. It has already become the biggest Malayalam release of the industry and the first film in the language to have an IMAX release. The only challenge the film faces is if it will be able to beat Thalapathy Vijay’s Leo: Bloody Sweet’s opening in Kerala where it collected Rs 12 crore on day 1.
