Indian cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal and Dhanashree Verma are officially divorced and are no longer husband and wife. During the proceedings, which took place today, both were spotted at the Bandra High Court.
In a viral video, Yuzi was seen wearing a t-shirt that read “Be Your Own Sugar Daddy,” a bold statement that quickly caught the attention of fans and netizens. The cricketer, who arrived wearing sunglasses and a face mask, appeared composed as he entered the court premises. One commented, “Bro is on fire.” Another commented, “Be Your Own Sugar Daddy—.”
Months after rumors of trouble in Yuzi and Dhanashree’s marriage, their divorce finally took place on March 20. The Bombay High Court had ordered the Family Court to expedite the hearing, considering Chahal’s participation in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL), which will begin on March 22. Notably, Yuzi is the most expensive spinner in IPL 2025, having secured an INR 18 crore contract with Punjab Kings.
Reports suggest that Yuzi and Dhanashree have been living separately for over 2.5 years due to irreconcilable differences. Both parties have requested the court to waive the mandatory six-month cooling-off period under Section 13B of the Hindu Marriage Act, which requires couples to attempt reconciliation before divorce proceedings officially commence. However, their plea for an early divorce was denied by the Family Court on February 20, as Chahal had only partially paid the agreed alimony settlement.
