Indian cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal and choreographer Dhanashree Verma are now officially divorced, as confirmed by their lawyer. He stated, “The divorce has been done. Marriage is dissolved.” A close associate of the couple also confirmed to Etimes, saying, “It is done, and the petition has been approved.”
The couple, who often shared affectionate posts on social media, have now gone their separate ways. Interestingly Dhanashree still has some pictures of Yuzvendra on her social media profile.
In their wedding video, Yuzvendra made a humorous remark at the start, saying, “Shaadi ke baad sabki life hai risky, kithe gayi meri whiskey?” Meanwhile Dhanashree shared their love story in the same video, mentioning, “We met through dancing. Yuzi came up to me and said, “Hey, I want to learn dancing’.” She captioned the video, “Paaji, shaadi ke baad sabki life hai risky @yuzi_chahal23.”
Chahal and Verma got married in December 2020 but had been living apart since June 2022. They filed for divorce in February 2025. According to Section 13B of the Hindu Marriage Act, couples must usually wait six months before being granted a divorce. However, as they had already been separated for over two and a half years, and Chahal had to focus on his IPL matches, the court allowed them to skip this waiting period. The final hearing took place on 20th March, just before the IPL season began on 23rd March.
The divorce was granted at the Bandra Family Court in Mumbai on 20th March 2025. The Bombay High Court decided to speed up the process by removing the six-month waiting period because of Chahal’s commitments to the Indian Premier League (IPL). Advocate Nitin Kumar Gupta, representing Chahal, told ANI, “The court has granted the decree of divorce. The court has accepted the joint petition of both parties. The parties are no longer husband and wife.”
